How Do We Screen the REC Service Providers:

Being a REC Insider you have a personal real-estate concierge, specializing in sourcing and vetting local handymen throughout the country, screening prospective tenants, assisting in tenant search and putting you in contact with professional real estate agents, mortgage brokers, appraisers and lawyers. 

Before we start any search, we create a list of all tasks at hand. Can one group/professional complete them all? Typically, contractors specialize in one type of trade, ie plumbing, plumbing, framing, ect. If you need a second opinion of what needs to be done, an independent home inspector is a great option.

The vetting process for all professionals takes a bit of time but is essential in finding the right person for the job. Take a moment to look through the Service Provider Checklist. Please note that these questions are not all essential, but guidelines to learn more about who they are.

Questions we ask every Service Provider:

1. How much experience do you have in this field?

2. How many employees do you have/work with?

3. Are you a licensed contractor?

4. Can you provide quality work references? How can I see them? Google, Facebook, Email references? 

5. What type of work does your company provide?

6. What is your process for quoting the job? Is there a fee for us to have a walk-through?

7. Do you have insurance in case an issue occurs?

8. How do you accept payment? Ie: Visa, Cheque, Cash, E-Transfer

9. Do you provide an invoice before and after job completion?

10. What is your payment schedule?

Once we find two to four companies, we will then send you an email with their full contact information. Please book them for a walk-through of the job. Our recommendation is to have them all come the same day but at different times so you can determine which one is best for you.
